Let Justice Roll

Let Justice Roll - #6 - Visions

Finally! We get to some good news. After so many words of judgment and woe. After visions of fire and the knocking down of walls, we get a new vision. Amos has a vision of what God will do at the end when all nations are together under one tent. Amos has a vision of what God is doing now and what God will do at the end. This is a massive vision full of incredible hope. It makes all of our visions seem small. Here God drops the mic and leaves a final promise of hope. You won’t want to miss this final sermon from Amos. We’ll be looking at Amos 9:11-15.

Let Justice Roll - #5 - Setting things Right

This is a strange thing. So many words of judgment. Where is the relief? Where is the good news? We’ll turn the tables in this sermon and show how the judgment of one group, means relief and rescue for another. The downfall of the oppressors means rescue for the oppressed. This is good news for the oppressed! The LORD is just and does not overlook injustice. God’s judgment then is good news for them. The call of Moses is God’s answer to the oppression of Israel; God is determined to rescue his people from those who oppress them.

Let Justice Roll - #3 - Ash Wednesday Lamentation

On Wednesday, Lent begins. For us, this means a special focus on the suffering of Jesus and his victory for us. Above all else, during this time, Jesus invites us to come. So, come! Come, dust and ashes that you are. Come, sinner that you are. Come, Jesus invites you. The weight of the world is on his shoulders. We begin with a look at Amos 5:1-14.

Let Justice Roll - #2 - Privileged

Amos is a difficult book. There is no way around that. He confronts Israel with many sins against the Lord and against people. In this sermon, we want to ask questions: How did it get so bad? And how can we keep far from this? In doing this, we will reclaim for ourselves a biblical understanding of our privilege as God’s chosen people who are dearly loved. We will also begin to see what this privilege of grace means for us as we step into the world.
