This Weekend at the Mount - 1/21/22

Reset our Physical Lives

The physical part of our lives is not often a conversation that we have in our worship services or even in our Bible studies. But it is a vital part of who we are. We are created by God and gifted physically by him. Our life and breath and all that we are his a gift from him. In fact, our bodies are temples for his Spirit. This means that God has something to say about the way that we care for our bodies and the way that we use them. It’s time for a reset of our physical lives. We’ll be looking at 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 and 10:31.

Read on for PSA about the Milwaukee City Mask Mandate. You can also find this and all other announcements in “the Mount Weekly.”

Milwaukee City Mask Mandate

Our God calls us to honor and obey our government leaders (cf. Romans 13:1-7) unless they tell us to do something that goes against God’s Word for “we must obey God rather than man” (Acts 5:29).

The City of Milwaukee Common Council, this past Tuesday, approved a new mask mandate; acting Mayor Cavalier Johnson signed it on Thursday. We expect it to be published on Saturday (1/22/22).

In keeping with this mandate and out of love for one another, Mount Lebanon requests that you follow this mask mandate that has been enacted by our elected leaders. Assuming that the order is published on Saturday, we will return to this policy on Monday, 1/24/22, so that we have ample time and opportunity to communicate this to our members. If this is not the case, we will adjust our practice accordingly.

This mandate is set to expire on March 1. We will monitor this mandate and follow our leaders to the best of our ability. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Pastor Nate, Pastor Paul, or any members of the Board of Nurture (Ethan Brooks, Ron Foelske, Steve Fredrich, Ron Pate, and Dave Ross).

I encourage you to continue to keep your eyes on Jesus and on the unity we have together in Christ.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7.

In Him,

Pastor Nate
