PRAYER FOR FORTY

During Lent, we want to rediscover together the power and the purpose for our praying. We will undertake a study of prayer in order to understand in fuller and deeper ways what prayer is, what power it has, and even how to pray. This will happen during our Sunday morning Bible hour. We will ask and answer questions like: How should I pray? What can I pray about? Who should I address in my prayers? What words should I use? We want to discover or re-discover for ourselves the meaning and power and purpose of prayer.

In addition to the study, we will practice prayer and we will do it as a congregation. You are invited to participate in “Prayer for Forty,” a prayer campaign at Mount Lebanon. Each day during the season of Lent, we will pause at 6:30 pm, wherever we are or whatever we’re doing, to pray together. We will share our prayers and prayer requests with one another. In this way, we will be connected to one another through our joint praying like the church of the past who would ring her bells so that all of her members could join together in praying the Lord’s Prayer. Not only is prayer a powerful spiritual discipline for each one of us, but it is a powerful and intimate way that we can remain connected to one another. We hope you will be a part of this prayer campaign.

On Sunday, February 14, we will have prayer booklets ready for you to take home so that you can participate.
