This Week at the Mount - A Life Upsidedown

What do you do when your life gets turned upside down, when things go sideways? How do you make sense of it? How do you move forward without going to pieces? So much happens in our lives; it happens to us and on every side all the way around us.

Joseph suffered more pain in his life unjustly than perhaps any except Job.  And yet we never hear Joseph complain or even freak out because of what was going on. Joseph never despairs, never complains, never grumbles. He just faithfully lives. How? His life was upside down and had gone so sideways. That’s not how I normally respond or react to adversity. I struggle to interpret these upside-down events in our life.

How did he do it? Joseph knew that God was with him and that God was working in all these events, even if he couldn’t see it.  God teaches us to react to the events of life and interpret them in view of his constant presence.

This Sunday we’ll be learning from Joseph’s response to all this adversity. Read Genesis 40-42 to get ready. We’ll be asking some big questions and start to get answer. How do we make sense of the pain in our lives? What do we do with that pain? It’s going to be a great Sunday. Can’t wait to share it with you.
