This Weekend at the Mount - 5/29/22

The way that this Book ends is not the way that it begins. At least, in some ways. This Book begins with God speaking. This Book begins with God acting. “In the beginning, God…” This Book begins with God making all things very good. This Book begins with God making humankind.

In between this beginning and the end of this book, a lot has unfolded. We have rebelled against God and God has worked out redemption for us in Christ. He has been relentless to redeem and restore all things. This battle against evil to restore all things is vividly pictured for us in Revelation. In between the beginning and the end, there is war. Our God always triumphs.

Yes, this Book begins with God speaking and acting. But it ends with the Church, with God’s people, speaking. Three times in the final verses of this closing chapter of the closing Word from God, the church speaks: “Come!” It’s such an interesting thing when the church commands God and dares to tell him what to do.

On Sunday, we’ll consider this word from the Church as we call to our Savior, “Come!” We’ll be looking at Revelation 22:12-20.
