Advent, like Lent, is a time of preparation. In addition, it has historically been used as a time for catechesis, that is, careful instruction in the truths of God’s Word. As we gather for these Advent family devotions, we will remember the coming of our Savior, prepare to worship him, and consider the life that our God calls us to live according to his commands.

With hymn and prayer, catechetical recitation, and reflection on the commandments, we’ll orient our lives to the life that God calls us to live. As we gaze at his Law, we will gain God's vision for the good life, the life with him, the life for him, and the life for our neighbors. God help us to order our deeds and our days by his word.
